ONE EYE OPEN 2023

7.26 Kaposia

Quite a night. Hot as hell but tolerable. Shot of the Year was a 200′ deuce by Nog. Hot dogs at the turn. Nog had worst front and best back 9. But the real story was the big victory by Zippy.

With a recovered Reg, the call was for Teams. And that should be the last time. Beautiful night. Fun times. Great oldies. Tokyo 23 for Jimi Buffets. Stuffed.

6.21 Cartilage

Summer Solstice and Jaf’s birthday Eve, a hot beauty. Plus the Rich Canopy is always welcoming and hospitable. The smoke had cleared, skies were mint. Zip had great news but what was it? Reg on the IR, just tagged along. Jaf had the birthday celebration, so just 3 @ Marg’s.

Nog Rocks!

A great night (67°/ Hazy) and indies from the Reds was the vote. Reg was throwing straight until losing both of his top (and only) drivers and hung it up. Reg also spearheaded a 10′ rule for gimmies, just to limit putting controversies. Everyone had some great shots and it was tight as usual. Nog kept it strong on the back 9 and prevailed. N-1, J-0, Z+2. Met birthday girl Pauline at TST for burgers and celebrating on the patio 🍻

5.10.23 C.P. Adams

Three of the four played the southern beast on this warm (78°) and sunny evening. Reg had to pass due to a chest cold (bronchitis?). A tight match all’s the way, while everyone is still getting used to some new holes after the redesign. All locked up at the turn, but Jaf returned to form with a stellar back nine (-1!) and claimed victory. Chips and dips in the margarita pools afterward.

5.3.23 Kaposia!

Our first time at the South Saint Paul gem was a gorgeous, sunny and windless day. Nogger and I ran into Jaf in the clubhouse, where all three of us bought our tags. Hey did Zippy ever buy his? 🧐 The course was pretty Jimmied but not terribly. We played same teams again, and again the NogginEggers got the best of the Brothers. They had box the entire round and came through for each other every time. Eggs had some great shots, including a 75′ putt that may be his funkest evva. His partner still has that horseshoe up there. Beautiful night. Extended postgame for Reg (sorry guys) but burgers were eventually enjoyed on the patio at BLVD. N/Z – 0, J/R +4

4.26.23 The Cart

A damn nice day and our first round at Strokewood in ’23. Zippy called in lovesick but Nog was back in action. And good action it was! The course was in nice shape and everyone played pretty well. New baskets are cool and longer baskets have been added on most holes. Oh, and the WEATHER! Yes, the weather was fairly decent. We started off with sun and then it got cloudy but stayed relatively warm. Marg’s for margs and mammoth burritos afterward. Gracias.

It’s tough to read but the scores are 9, 13, 14. Almost exactly what I predicted!

Well the forecast was LTI, as was the players list, since Nog’s under the weather this week. But the Purveyor of Positivity was spot-on and we stayed dry. Also CTO, until this one guy came walking across the ballfield with his Bluetooth speaker blaring. WTF? Turns out to be another surprise appearance by the Woodcock! As usual, he had stories and big plans and “best ever” weed. He was with us for 7-8 holes, then was off to find gold in them thar hills… Anyway, Reg was backing up his talk with a walk that put him 3 ahead of the field after 9. 😯 But in classic Regmo style, he gave it all away on one damn hole. Boo. Hoo. Anyway, super fun night with excellent grub at the Wildcat Grill afterwards. Plus the super hot older gal across the way. FFS…

4.12.23 Hastings (again)

What an incredible day. After months of snow and cold, we suddenly got a week with 70s and 80s! In fact I think we were pushing 90 today. In April! Well the course was in great shape and we had a great back and forth team action for the third week in a row. Zip and Nog came out on top by one stroke in the end. Jaf wasn’t able to overcome the handicap that is Regmo. But it was fun playing the new layout and having great chow at Yuan’s afterward. Heej was invited but was a solid NO. 🤷🏻

There we are. That’s us again. Throwing across the new gorge hole (note basket way back).

Church Course 4.5.23

Bone’s shot of the year so far. Parked!

Howling for the Lord. The winds were nasty under a gray sky but we came prepared. It’s a very nice course and was in decent shape, though it’s still too early for the carts, as we found out. We dumped them after 8. Teams again, in a rematch of last week. Tight match all’s the way, as the Bros got redemption by one stroke and now the teams are even after 2. Lots of crazy shots gone wrong and some gone right. Incredible rollers, skippers, bouncers, and see-yas, even into South Robert. Fun night. B-52s was too jammed so we had hockey pucks instead. No, they were very good. Oh and Thanks for the mammaries 👍🏼

HASTINGS 3.29.23

What a night! We switched the course, knowing the paths were clear and major meltage had taken place, and it was a great call. Also great was having Nog back from ‘Zona. He even brought Xmas gifts! (Yumm) He and Zippy teamed up and beat the brothers Klein by a couple, as we made up the majority of the holes. Great feast with swimming pools at Las Margaritas. Hopefully we’ll be able to play a real round soon.

INVERTED 3.22.23

Parked in South Valley and then through the Chunnel to get started on this chilly overcast “Spring” day. We were then met with the reality that the path was not nice and clear, as was C.P.Adams. That was a game-changer for Reg, who foolishly showed up with the wrong equipment. He returned his cart to the car and settled for spectating. Jaf and Zip played some shortened holes through the snow while Reg camped in the middle of the course with tunes and beer. Dancing ensued. Shadows appeared but didn’t stay. TST for burgers and Wildcat Fries 🥰 Scores: DTE

ONE EYE OPENER 3.15.23

A decent evening with 40 degrees, light wind, and cloud cover. Jaf and Zip came prepared to trudge through the deep stuff but it wasn’t too bad. A nice crust kept the discs and boots  on the upside, though they employed some “pretty pink ribbons.” They made up the holes as they went along, staying mainly on the cleared asphalt path. Reg got to pick a few holes, too. He just kept score and was DJ, due to his bum knee. Both the other guys had some great shots. We all loved seeing some different basket positions and all new baskets throughout the course. We called Nog but he was unavailable. Mexican fiesta afterwards.
